The songwriting game

My pal Bob Schneider has an e-mail game he plays where someone throws out a title and then you write a song using the title. It doesn't have to be the actual title of the song but it does have to be in there somewhere. Jason Mraz played the game for awhile.

Bob just started doing it again and I told him I wanted in.
I thought it meant I'd be writing a song a week.
In actuality, it's two songs a week.
I normally write about twenty songs a year.
Now I'm writing what amounts to 100 songs a year so the Miles Zuniga box set will be out soon.
I'm thinking of posting some of the songs somewhere so you can have a listen.
Any suggestions on the best site?
Does Blogger have a place to put MP3's?

Salut,
MILES

  1. this link shows how to do it, basically you have to upload the files into a different server and link to them from your blog, :-)

  3. This is an exciting idea. It would be great to hear the songs and I look forward to that box set! Here's an idea~This is my dream, I'm the writer I direct the scenes, this is my dream. Is that how you start? Marilyn

  4. Uhh......No. That's not how I start. Usually I hear a melody line or something and I think, that would be good. And I go from there.
But I'm lazy so that melody line can lay around for years (like plutonium).
The great thing about this songwriting game is that there's a DEADLINE.
    And there's peer pressure.
I'll put up a few soon but they're gonna be pretty lo-fi.

  6. Oh, okay, thanks. I love hearing how people create. My friend and I have a non-musical writing thing we do. He will give me a very barebones idea of a plot and I write a few pages of a story, then I throw it back to him and he does the same. It's alot of fun. My sister passed away awile ago but we used to write songs together. She played guitar and could sing-I couldn't do either so I wrote most of the lyrics. It was just for fun but it's great when you share the experience. I can understand why you want to do this. Good luck and hope to hear something soon. Oh, and I will always dream! Peace, Marilyn

  8. I love riffs, Frankie.
What is this place you speak of to house my Mp3's?
Sorry I haven't posted anything, I've been lazy and about to get much lazier.
    Happy Thanksgiving.

  10. Hey Frankie, thanks for pointing out that clip. Those sessions were amazingly great, funny and sad and infuriating at the same time. I just want to jump in and shake the shit out of them. And Miles, I beleive Frankie was asking you if you found a place for the MP3s yet! We are all lazy at heart so that's fine...but you are not waiting for OUR music. So move your ass, boy. hahahaha
